The making of Makro Pro
01 / 08 — The idea
Every product starts with a question.
2020. The pandemic keeps shoppers at home — and Makro's wholesale business needs a way online, fast.
02 / 08 — Research
Listening before designing.
Problem-defining workshops, interviews and journey mapping surfaced what wholesale buyers actually needed.

03 / 08 — User journey
Mapping the path to purchase.
Four moments decide everything. The journey map focused the whole team on browse, search, list and checkout.
04 / 08 — Wireframes
Structure first, pixels later.
Low-fidelity wireframes locked the layout and flows — cheap to change, fast to test.
05 / 08 — UI design
Wireframes become interface.
Keep scrolling — the grey boxes take on Makro's brand, real products and crystal-clear bulk pricing.
06 / 08 — Prototype
Test, tap, iterate.
High-fidelity prototypes went straight into usability testing. Try the hotspots on the screen.
07 / 08 — Launch
Makro Pro ships on iOS and web.
From first sketch to a live product — search, My List and checkout working as one seamless experience.
08 / 08 — Impact
From idea to impact.
Within months of launch, Makro Pro became a serious sales channel.
Makro Pro — E-commerce
Supermarket, at your fingertips.
Makro Pro is a mega wholesale e-commerce platform — think Costco for South East Asia. Makro hired me to design and build their first mobile app, bringing bulk shopping online for businesses and households.

02 The problem
How do you transform wholesale shopping into a seamless digital experience?
During the pandemic, when in-person shopping became a challenge, Makro saw the need to bring its wholesale experience online. To meet this demand, they hired me to design and build their first mobile app, making bulk shopping more accessible for businesses and households.
03 The solution
Owning the journeys that matter most
As the lead designer, I owned the search, homepage, My List and checkout experiences — collaborating closely with user research, product, engineering and leadership to create a frictionless, high-performing shopping experience.
